Saving Your Money Tips “Grocery Style” #2

Coupons. They are the most efficient way to save money at the stores, yet that can sometimes be challenging. From organizing them to determining what the coupon is suppose to be used for; I can understand why some choose to avoid them all together!

My best advice when it comes to organizing your coupons is trial and error. There are numerous ways one can organize their coupons, that may be or next series (hint hint). You must do what works for you. I have tried a total of 5 ways over the years! Yes that’s right 5, maybe more if I really thought about it! For me personally what worked a few months ago, may not work for me today. So I tweak it.

Don’t be afraid to change the way you are handling your coupons. Sometimes a few small changes makes a HUGE difference! Know when there’s a problem, rethink it and then act! If it will save you time, help you identify what you have on hand, and make your coupons more accessible then go for it!

Also, another thing I sometimes run into is confusion on what I am suppose to buy using a particular coupon. This is especially so when buying cosmetics or baby items. How ever, I have learned to look at the bar code on the coupon and item being purchase. If the first (5) digits are the same then that’s the right product! Sometimes a coupon may just say any bath product, and I’m left questioning rather the item I have in hand classifies as a bath product. This has help me numerous times to determine if I was matching up the correct item to the correct coupon.

Review

  1. Use your coupons
  2. Organize them in a way that works for you
  3. Don’t be afraid to change your method if it stops working for you
  4. Pay attention to the bar code if uncertain if your matching items up correctly
