Are You Spending too Much?

by Tiffany on October 26, 2008

I often get asked how much do you spend on groceries each week. I can never answer this question because I never know. All I do know is I am saving more than I have in the past. I have decided to track my spending’s right here with you all.

This will be a learning curve for us all. I am in no way really prepared for what the final number will be over the next 4 weeks, but we shall see.

Today, I started my trip out at Kroger. I know I rarely post on Kroger. However I love to get my meat there and today decided to get my papers there too. Like I posted yesterday today was a great day for my family to pick up (2) double papers. I normally will just stick to one double.

I love Kroger’s manager special tags! I often can grab great deals on my meats with these tags. When they ring up on the receipt they are never included on your total saved. So do not get discouraged when you look at your receipt and don’t see a savings. Its there, just look at the before price! Take a look at my savings:

(2) Double papers $2.34 (saved .32 cents)
1 pack of Chicken $3.30 (1.99lbs) (saved $5.81)
1 Beef Steak $3.22 ($2.37)

Total out of pocket: $11.62
Total saved this trip: $8.50
