Reference for Coupon Lingo

One of my biggest challenge when first starting to use coupons, was coming across coupon sites with abbreviations that I could not understand. I felt confused and over whelmed. Below you will find a list of abbreviations that I will most frequently be using and hopefully not leave you confused!

Coupon Lingo:

Sunday Inserts (found in the newspaper):
CA= Campbell’s Sunday insert
GM General Mills
P&G = Procter & Gamble Sunday insert
RP = Red Plum Sunday insert
SS = SmartSource Sunday insert
V = Valassis Sunday insert

Abbreviations Used Frequently Here:
$3/$15= A coupon that gives an amount off a purchase total ex. $3 off $15 purchase
$1/2 = One dollar off two items, etc.
B1G1F or BOGOF= Buy one item get one item free
ECBs = ExtraCare Bucks, CVS loyalty rewards system
IP = Internet printable coupon
OOP = Out of pocket
PSA = Prices starting at
Q = Coupon
SCR = Single check rebate
WYB = When you buy

Additional Abbreviations Good to Know:
Blinkies = Coupon dispensers with blinking lights (red machines you pull coupons from)
Cat = Catalina coupon, prints from a separate machine when your receipt prints ( like at Kroger & Walgreen’s)
CRT = Cash register tape, usually used when referring to CVS coupons that print with receipt
ESRs = EasySaver Rebates, Walgreen’s monthly rebates program
FAR = Free after rebate
IVC = Instant Value Coupon, Walgreen’s’ store coupons found in ads and ESR booklet
MFR = Manufacturer
MIR = Mail-in rebate
Peelie = Peel off coupon found on product
RR = Register Rewards, Walgreen’s’ Catalina coupons
YMMV = You mileage may vary, some stores may allow you to do a deal, some may not.
